Diving in Alor Island









The undeveloped Alor Island regency is home to just two percent of republic of Indonesia's population. The Alor Straight is a first class, undiscovered scuba diving region and one of Indonesia's best kept diving secrets.

The water's surrounding the Alor Island regency are extremely rich with varied reef profiles, including walls, seamounts, rocky outcrops, and pristine coral-reefs and othe sea animal. The secret dive site in the Kalibahi Bay is home to harlequin shrimp, sea horses, ghost pipefish, wonderpus, mimic octopus and hairy frogfish.

Sustainable fishing practices and eco tourism are prevalent in the Alor Island region and there are no signs of reef degradation. Opportunities abound to interact with the locals on the various islands, who are a traditional seafaring people. Visibility underwater is extremely good, the water is warm and the density of divers is minimal making Alor a perfect tropical scuba diving destination.
